Basic Admin Setup Guide

Admin Console Setup

As a new administrator in Google Workspace, your Admin console is your mission control. It allows you to manage users, apps, security settings, and your organization’s overall productivity infrastructure. This guide walks you through the fundamental setup process every admin must complete after signing up.

🛠 Step-by-Step Setup

1

Login to Admin Console: Go to admin.google.com and log in using your super admin email address.

2

Add Users: Navigate to Directory → Users. Click + Add new user to create accounts for your team.

3

Create Organizational Units (OUs): Group users by role, department, or location under Directory → Organizational units. This helps assign policies.

4

Configure Admin Roles: Delegate tasks using roles under Admin roles. Limit full access only to trusted users.

5

Turn On 2-Step Verification: Go to Security → Authentication and enforce 2FA to protect accounts from breaches.

6

App Access Settings: Under Apps → Google Workspace, control which services users can access (Gmail, Drive, Meet, etc.).

7

Customize Branding: Upload your logo, set up your support contacts, and personalize the login page via Account Settings → Personalization.

🤖 Smart Admin Tip:

Enable AI-based alerts in the Security Center to automatically detect suspicious logins, email spoofing, and compromised accounts.
