📬 Create Mailbox, Alias & Groups
Set up user mailboxes, assign alternate email addresses (aliases), and create groups to streamline communication and access control within your Microsoft 365 tenant.
1️⃣ Create a Mailbox
- Sign in to admin.microsoft.com
- Go to Users > Active users
- Click “Add a user”
- Fill in user details, username and domain
- Assign a product license (e.g., Microsoft 365 Business Standard)
- Finish by setting a password and clicking “Add”
2️⃣ Add an Email Alias
- Go to Users > Active users
- Click the user’s name
- Under Mail, choose Manage email aliases
- Click + Add an alias
- Enter the new alias (e.g. `info@domain.com`) and save
3️⃣ Create a Group (Distribution or Security)
- Go to Teams & Groups > Active teams & groups
- Click “+ Add a group”
- Choose group type:
- Distribution: For group email addresses
- Microsoft 365: For shared collaboration
- Security: For permission assignments
- Enter group name and email ID (e.g. sales@domain.com)
- Add members > Click Create group
💡 Tip:
You can convert a distribution list to a Microsoft 365 group later for collaborative features like shared mailbox, calendar, and planner.
